Spring Break - March 2024

IDIS3002: Global Public Health

3 credits

This Spring Break, students joined Professors Benes and Stone to Costa Rica for Spring 2022. The course was designed to strengthen the student's understanding of the issues and factors constraining the achievement of public health goals around the world. The impacts of social, cultural, physical, political and economic determinants of health were analyzed in a global context. Emphasis was placed on how factors within these different determinants of health affect the provision of health services and health outcomes. Examination of the impact of globalization and trans-national collaboration was included.
Students went paddle boarding, snorkeled, witnessed a cacao ceremony, and so much more.
