What's Direct Admissions All About?

Effective in Fall 2026, Fitchburg State University is thrilled to offer Direct Admissions to all students grade 9-12 who attend Fitchburg High, Monty Tech, Sizer, or St. Bernard's! 

Imagine locking in your spot at Fitchburg State before you even apply. That’s Direct Admissions – a program that guarantees your admission to our university if you meet a few simple requirements. We’re cutting out the confusing, stressful parts of college applications so you can focus on your goals and dreams.

And guess what? We want to connect with you as early as 9th grade to help you explore what Fitchburg State has to offer!

What Do You Need to Qualify?

  • Complete all graduation requirements at your high school

For Families and Guidance Staff

The Direct Admissions program is a partnership with Fitchburg High School, Montachusett Regional Technical Vocational School, Sizer School and St. Bernard’s High School. Our commitment includes:

Offer of general admission to students enrolled at any of the four partner schools provided the student completes their secondary school curriculum and maintains a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 or higher (some specific academic majors may have additional requirements and students who have a final cumulative grade point average below a 2.5  may be required to participate in the Fitchburg State University’s Summer Bridge Program prior to matriculation).

Free in-state tuition and fees for residents of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Student must be a resident of the City of Fitchburg and must complete the FAFSA (or MASFA, as applicable) prior to the deadline of May 1 of the student’s senior year.

Overall Eligibility

Program is eligible to students enrolling at Fitchburg State University directly following graduation from high school. By enrolling in the program through the Opt-In form, students are locking in the terms of the program. Students that withdraw from the program are no longer eligible.

A housing scholarship valued at an additional $1,500 for those who reside in a residence hall.

Regular messaging and communication with each student who opts into the program, as early as 9th grade, throughout their secondary school tenure to establish and maintain a connection between the student and the institution.
Planned and school specific events to welcome and introduce eligible students to the offerings, curriculum and opportunities available with their matriculation to Fitchburg State University.
