POLS or HIST 2110: Europe Today
3 Credits LAS Attributes: AIA, CTW, GDC, HI, or IHIP
Take this 3 credit course that introduces major themes in contemporary European history, politics and economics before traveling to see some of the most significant places in the world. During the program, you will travel to three European countries; the Netherlands, Germany and Poland with Professor Spero and your classmates. You will meet and engage informally with German and Polish university students. Together, we’ll experience incredible cultures and societies with this window into Europe today, as we walk centuries-old cobblestone streets and witness some of the most extraordinary architecture and cities internationally.

Students should apply for the Global Ambassador Scholarship in October 2026 on Academic Works and will find out what/if they received the scholarship before the first payment due date.

| Sun., May 16 | Depart Boston Logan International Airport for overnight flight to Amsterdam. |
| Mon., May 17 | Arrive in Amsterdam. Visit Hague, International Court of Justice, and the Resistance Museum. Enjoy free time in Amsterdam before taking the bus to accommodations in Kleve, Germany. |
| Tues., May 18 | In the morning, take a walking tour of Kleve. In the afternoon, visit the NATO Headquarters in Germany.y |
| Wed., May 19 | Visit our sister school in Germany, Rhine-Waal University for campus tour and discussions with faculty and students on EU security, Ukraine, transatlantic ties, etc. Tour Kleve and Kamp-Linfort with RWU faculty and students. |
| Thurs., May 20 | Free Day! |
| Fri., May 21 | Depart Germany for Poland. Attend a cultural, health, and safety orientation. Take a neighborhood walking tour before enjoying a Group Welcome Dinner and settling into accommodations in Warsaw. |
| Sat., May 22 | Take a walking tour of Warsaw, including the Old Town, Main Streets, and Warsaw Ghetto. Free afternoon to explore museums on own. (Suggestions: Warsaw Rising Museum, POLIN Museum, Palace of Culture and Science) |
| Sun., May 23 | Visit the Royal Lazienki Museum and parks. Enjoy a free afternoon. |
| Mon., May 24 | Visit our sister school in Poland, the University of Warsaw for campus tour and discussions with faculty and students on transatlantic ties, NATO, and the EU. See Warsaw with UW faculty and students. |
| Tues., May 25 | Day trip to Lublin. Have a guided visit of the Majdanek State Museum and then enjoy free time in the city before returning to Warsaw in the evening. |
| Wed., May 26 | Depart Warsaw for Krakow via train. Enjoy a free afternoon in Krakow. |
| Thurs., May 27 | Take a guided walking tour of Krakow, including the Main Square and Wawel Castle. Then walk to Kazimierz District and visit New Jewish Cemetery. Visit Schindler's Enamel Factory. |
| Fri., May 28 | Travel by train to Nowa Huta for a guided visit of one of the largest planned socialist realist districts ever built. Return to Krakow accommodations in the evening. |
| Sat., May 29 | Take a guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mines. Enjoy the last evening abroad. |
| Sun., May 30 | Depart Poland for Boston. |
