In Short

The Artificial Intelligence concentration is intended for graduate students who seek to develop specialized expertise in intelligent systems and data-driven technologies.

We've got you covered
What will I do?
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of core AI concepts, algorithms, and methodologies.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate machine learning and AI models for real-world applications.
  • Apply appropriate data processing, modeling, and evaluation techniques to solve complex problems.

Program Overview

The Master of Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is designed to prepare graduate students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in one of the most rapidly evolving areas of computing. This program combines a strong foundation in core computer science principles with specialized coursework in AI, enabling students to develop intelligent systems and data-driven solutions for real-world challenges.

The AI concentration focuses on both foundational and modern approaches, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, generative AI, and data analytics. Students will explore theoretical concepts alongside hands-on applications using contemporary tools, frameworks, and computing platforms.

The concentration will be built on the core requirements for MS CS by directing the section of CSC 7000+ free electives towards AI. Students who choose the AI concentration will be required to take the following 4 courses besides the existing 6 required core courses:

  • CSC 7111 Introduction to Artificial intelligence
  • CSC 7650 Introduction to Generative Artificial intelligence
  • CSC 8016 Machine Learning
  • CSC 8XXX Natural Language Processing

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is transforming industries, economies, and society at large. There is a growing demand for professionals who possess both a strong foundation in computer science and specialized expertise in AI methodologies. The Artificial Intelligence concentration within the Master of Computer Science program is designed to address this demand by equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop intelligent, data-driven solutions to complex problems.

This concentration provides a structured pathway for students to gain proficiency in key areas such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and data analytics. It integrates theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, enabling students to apply modern AI techniques using industry-relevant tools and platforms. The program also emphasizes ethical considerations, responsible AI development, and the societal impact of intelligent systems.
