Program Overview

The housing program is a unique opportunity designed to help you transition successfully from high school to college with the combined resources of two institutions. This partnership provides a structured and supportive pathway to earning your degree by blending the academic curriculum of a community college with the residential experience of a four-year university.

As a Housing Program student, you will:

  • Take your academic coursework at MWCC.
  • Live on Fitchburg State University’s campus.
  • Receive personalized academic and social support from both institutions.

With this dual-campus experience, you'll have access to the best of both worlds, making your transition to college life seamless, supportive, and successful.

  • Residential Life – Live in on-campus housing at Fitchburg State.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible for Housing Program if you meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Current MWCC Students
    • If you are currently enrolled in at least 6 credits at MWCC, you can apply for on-campus housing at Fitchburg State.
    • You are a new student or a returning student in good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA).
    • You are a new student or a returning student in good financial aid standing.
    • You agree to all the terms listed in the Fitchburg State Housing Contract including room and board fees.
    • You do not have a conduct history at MWCC or any other former institution. 
    • Successfully clear a CORI / SORI background check conducted by MWCC.

How to Get Started

  1. Complete the Housing Interest Form
  2. Pay the $150 Housing Deposit: This secures your spot and grants you access to the housing application. 
  3. Receive Additional Communication: Once your deposit is processed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the housing application.
  4. Complete the Housing Application: This helps us better understand your needs and preferences.

Keys to Success

To remain in good standing and make the most of Housing Program, you must:

  • Maintain good academic and conduct standing at both MWCC and Fitchburg State.
  • Make steady progress toward completing your approved associate degree at MWCC.
  • Utilize support services from advisors, faculty, and staff at both institutions.
  • Pay all applicable housing and tuition fees each semester.
  • Plan for transportation: Public transit is available, but having your own vehicle is beneficial for commuting between campuses.

With the Housing Program for MWCC students, you can experience on-campus residential life while starting your academic journey at a community college—all leading toward a seamless transition to a four-year degree.
