The 2026 LGBTQ+ History Month theme, “Science and Innovation,” celebrates the contributions, achievements, and lasting impact of LGBTQ+ individuals throughout history and across communities. The theme highlights the ways LGBTQ+ people have shaped the fields of science, technology, research, medicine, the arts, education, advocacy, and innovation, while recognizing the courage and perseverance of those who challenged barriers and created opportunities for future generations. LGBTQ+ History Month provides an opportunity to honor the diverse identities, experiences, and stories within the LGBTQ+ community and to recognize the individuals whose ideas, discoveries, leadership, and advocacy have helped shape our world. Throughout the month of October, we celebrate the resilience, creativity, and accomplishments of LGBTQ+ communities while reflecting on the history that has brought us forward. By learning from the past, recognizing contributions in the present, and supporting continued innovation and progress, we create a more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Every Fitchburg State University event welcomes all members of our university community.
