- Provide leadership, assistance, and support to students living in the residence halls
- Must qualify as a full time student, be enrolled in 12 credit hours, and maintain a semester and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
- Assist students to implement learning principles and effective strategies
- Monitor/proctor the Tutor Service Center
- Be knowledgeable and identify educational/academic oriented student organizations, fraternities and societies
- Be knowledgeable about alternative educational opportunities
- Develop and implement programs that meet residents’ academic and educational needs
- Provide support to academic-focused Residential Learning Communities (RLCs)
- Be available, visible, and approachable to the residents in the hall
- Learn about the morale of residents in the assigned residence area and identify potential conflicts
- Become knowledgeable about personal abilities and limitations and provide effective referrals

- Support, develop, and implement departmental events, programs, and initiatives
- Develop a working familiarity with the campus and its resources to assist residents
- Be available, visible, and approachable to the residents in the hall
- Learn about the morale of residents in the assigned residence area and identify potential conflicts

- Serve in a rotating duty schedule
- Assist in covering a building’s front desk between one and two shifts per week
- Understand and articulate university and Housing and Residential Services policies and procedures
- Write reports as necessary, as trained on and instructed by professional staff
- Respond and assist with emergency situations
All Hall representatives of the RHA shall be invested in the general council and are expected to:
- Attend all general council meetings, programs and events
- Assist in the preparation and organization of events put on by the RHA, including but not limited to attendance at events sponsored by the RHA.
- Adhere to the Fitchburg State University core values and ethical standards.
- Hold office for a term of one (1) academic year, commencing in May
- Adhere to their individual position guidelines as outlined in Article VI Section 2
The Hall President shall:
- Be responsible for knowing the "ins and outs" of their residence hall areas (i.e. facilities issues, students' needs and concerns, programming desires, etc.)
- Report to the Resident Director each week on the status of their buildings (using the format they request)
- Assist the President in coordinating all surveys and efforts within their residence hall
- Actively present themselves as the Hall Representative within their area
- Assist in the designing, marketing and implementation of two (2) hall programs per semester in their area under the leadership of the Programming Chair
- Encourages the involvement of all resident students in RHA and its events
- Attend all RHA meetings
Employment
- Serve as a member of the departmental business and parking services team
- Support the office by addressing housing, meal plan, parking permit, and parking citation billing, financial transactions, customer service, programming, financial literacy/competency and policy enforcement
- A minimum commitment of 12 hours a week up to a maximum of 20 hours a week is permitted
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at Fitchburg State University during the academic year
- Must maintain a cumulative and semester grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
- Understand and be knowledgeable of the Finances Operations Manual
- Learn to operate at basic level within the T2 parking services operation system
- Address questions towards parking permit, parking appeals and other pertinent concerns
- Understand and be knowledgeable about the Parking Rules and Regulations
- Provide front office support
- Update and monitor university housing email account
- Will receive, sort and distribute any mail, data, and documents
- Receive phone calls and direct to the appropriate resources, manage call lists and make outgoing phone calls, other office duties as needed
- Schedule meetings as requested
- Attend training of the operating systems within Housing and Residential Services
- Must attend/participate in staff meetings, in one-on-one meetings with supervisor and evaluation process
- Support departmental wide programming
- Operate via the front desk of an assigned residence hall as an initial point of contact and resource
- Verify identities of persons entering the residence hall by departmental procedures and guidelines
- Address policy violations and be able to write necessary reports using the Maxient system.
- Answer the desk phone, make note of and forward any calls as appropriate.
- Serve as a positive role model in the community

- Schedule availability must be flexible.
- The shifts for this position run 24 hours, 7 days per week
- CDA shifts will be built based off of your class schedule as it appears in Web4 - time at the start of the semester will allow for permanent swaps/shift pick up to fill the schedule
- It is expected that all Community Desk Assistants have availability for at least four overnight weekday shifts (shifts that begin at or after 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday nights through to Friday mornings)
- It is expected that all Community Desk Assistants have availability for at least four weekend shifts (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
- Ability to multi-task while providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Full time undergraduate student at Fitchburg State University (enrolled in 12+ credits each semester)
- GPA of 2.2 most recently completed semester and cumulatively
- Be in good conduct standing with the university (no active sanctions)
- Serves as a member of the departmental marketing team
- A minimum commitment of 12 hours a week up to a maximum of 20 hours a week is preferred
- Lead on the visual creation for the department’s social media accounts
- Assist in coordinating various marketing methods
- Audit department website and recommend edits
- Review and edit all graphic design related material
- Follow any verbal and immediate request for changes to materials/projects, etc.
- Must attend/participate in staff meetings, in one on one meetings with the supervisor and in the evaluation process
- All other duties as assigned
- Must maintain a semester and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
- Ability to utilize appropriate graphic design software to create materials
- Supervises Resident Assistants assigned to the residence area. Provides regular individual/group supervision on a weekly basis and completes written evaluations each semester
- Participates in the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of Resident Assistants. Attends and participates in all in-service training for staff and assists in creating and implementing these trainings
- Provides leadership and support for staff and student programming efforts within their assigned residence area
- Manages the residence hall in coordination with staff members and appropriate offices to ensure proper day-to-day functioning of the building
- Responsible for opening the residence hall in the fall and after breaks, and for hall closings prior to breaks and the end of the academic year
- Forwards and follows-up with Maintenance Request Orders, and is responsible for being familiar with issues and concerns in their residence area
- Participates in rotating on-campus duty responsibilities in supervising the campus on weekends, weeknights, and vacation periods, and during emergencies
- Be attentive to the residential needs in such areas as safety, security, and emergency situations (i.e. wellness checks, work with University Police and Health and Safety Inspections).
- Responsible for explaining and enforcing departmental and campus policies

- The GA must possess a Bachelor’s degree and be enrolled as a graduate student, must not be enrolled in more than 6 credit hours each semester without prior approval
- GA must seek approval to take non-GE/daytime undergrad classes
- Provide general office support for the day-to-day operation and functionality of Housing and Residential Services
- Provide front office support by greeting/welcoming and assisting callers and in-person visitors
- Collect data for tracking purposes for office visitors
- Update and monitor university housing email account
- Track the return of temporary access cards
- Receive, sort and distribute physical mail, data entry, fax and scan, copy documents, receive phone calls and direct to the appropriate resources, manage call lists and make outgoing phone calls, other office duties as needed
- Support virtual communication platforms
- Attend training of the operating systems within Housing and Residential Services
- Ability to identify and explain key features of each residence hall and community
- Must maintain a cumulative and semester grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
- Must attend/participate in staff meetings, in one-on-one meetings with the supervisor and in the evaluation process
- Work in cooperation with and at the direction of professional staff
- Create an atmosphere of quality interaction, sharing accountability, and civic responsibility
- Return to campus early for all training
- Be present during RA training with the ability to assist
- Refer issues and concerns to your supervisor and support the plan(s) as guided by the supervisor
- Coordinate RA staffs’ duty schedules each semester
- Support of the desk attendant program by overseeing the Russell Towers front desk
- Attend one to two on campus educational workshops or professional development opportunities
- Serve on subcommittees with the Housing and Residential Services pro staff
