Mathematics Minor

Minors in Mathematics receive the mathematical foundation needed for advanced work in their major field.

Required Courses in a Mathematics Major

MATH 2300 Calculus I 4 cr.
MATH 2400 Calculus II 4 cr.
MATH 2600 Linear Algebra OR 3 cr.
MATH 4300 Abstract Algebra 3 cr.


Four additional Mathematics electives, except MATH 2860, MATH 4850, MATH 4860, and MATH 4870, at least three of which must be at the 3000 or above level and at least one of which must be at the 4000 level.

In addition, at most, one of the following can be chosen as an elective:

MATH 1900 Discrete Mathematics 3 cr.
MATH 2000 Informal Geometry 3 cr.
MATH 2500 Introduction to Mathematical Thought 3 cr.
