The Top Program Scores recognize schools based on their performance in both the AMCA National Tournament Oral Advocacy competition and the AMCA National Tournament Written Brief competition.

​Fitchburg State University students earned three awards at this month’s American Moot Court Association National Championship Tournament at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, La.

Fitchburg State continued its streak of strong showings at the American Moot Court Association national championship, with a team finishing in the top 10 percent of teams in North America.

The student competitors proved to themselves that they had what it took to compete with any undergraduate in the country in the highest level of legal debate, and that Fitchburg State students can go toe to toe with any other school’s best.

The competition pits students on opposing sides of a legal issue as in an appellate court proceeding, testing their facility with applying interpretations of the law before a panel of guest judges.

Fitchburg State students Abigail M. Kennefick and Aleah I. Fisher finished 25th in the country at the recent American Collegiate Moot Court Association national tournament in Florida.

Aleah I. Fisher, a pre-law major, and Abigail M. Kennefick, a senior majoring in political science, will be one of 80 teams competing in the national tournament.
