  • Provide leadership, assistance, and support to students living in the residence halls
  • Must qualify as a full time student, be enrolled in 12 credit hours, and maintain a semester and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
  • Assist students to implement learning principles and effective strategies
  • Monitor/proctor the Tutor Service Center
  • Be knowledgeable and identify educational/academic oriented student organizations, fraternities and societies
  • Be knowledgeable about alternative educational opportunities
  • Develop and implement programs that meet residents’ academic and educational needs
  • Provide support to academic-focused Residential Learning Communities (RLCs)
  • Be available, visible, and approachable to the residents in the hall
  • Learn about the morale of residents in the assigned residence area and identify potential conflicts
  • Become knowledgeable about personal abilities and limitations and provide effective referrals
  • Demonstrate teamwork
  • Promote diversity awareness
  • Attend all trainings, full staff/area staff meetings as requested
  • Utilize requested technology as directed
  • Serve as a member of the departmental business and parking services team
  • Support the office by addressing housing, meal plan, parking permit, and parking citation billing, financial transactions, customer service, programming, financial literacy/competency and policy enforcement
  • A minimum commitment of 12 hours a week up to a maximum of 20 hours a week is permitted
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at Fitchburg State University during the academic year
  • Must maintain a cumulative and semester grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Understand and be knowledgeable of the Finances Operations Manual
  • Learn to operate at basic level within the T2 parking services operation system
  • Address questions towards parking permit, parking appeals and other pertinent concerns
  • Understand and be knowledgeable about the Parking Rules and Regulations
  • Provide front office support
  • Update and monitor university housing email account
  • Will receive, sort and distribute any mail, data, and documents
  • Receive phone calls and direct to the appropriate resources, manage call lists and make outgoing phone calls, other office duties as needed
  • Schedule meetings as requested
  • Attend training of the operating systems within Housing and Residential Services
  • Must attend/participate in staff meetings, in one-on-one meetings with supervisor and evaluation process
  • Support departmental wide programming
  • This is a live-in required position
  • Support the student staff on-call after-hours rotation, schedule management, and staff development
  • Ability to multi-task while providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Full time undergraduate student at Fitchburg State University (enrolled in 12 plus credits each semester
  • Grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 semester and cumulatively
  • Be in good conduct standing with the university
  • Serve as a mentor to Community Desk Assistants (CDA)
  • Lead staff development and staff support
  • Serve as first responder to vacant front desk shifts
  • Find front desk replacements for vacant desk shifts
  • Create and manage the front desk schedule
  • Conduct training for all CDAs
  • Conduct unannounced visits to active front desk shifts
  • Update the Community Desk Assistant (CDA) manual as needed
  • Document and report all concerns with staff to the supervisor
  • Attend all live-in staff training
  • Assist in covering a building’s front desk with permanent scheduled shifts as needed
  • Become knowledgeable about the student conduct system and encourage residents to be responsible for their behavior
  • Write reports as necessary, as trained on and instructed by professional staff
  • Respond and assist with emergency situations
  • Operate via the front desk of an assigned residence hall
  • Maintain the strictest level of confidentiality with information
  • Verify identities of persons entering the residence hall by departmental procedures and guidelines
  • Understand, articulate, and uphold services policies and procedures
  • Address policy violations and be able to write necessary reports
  • Understand the conduct process and encourage residents and guests to be responsible for their behavior
  • Answer the desk phone and forward any calls as appropriate
  • Have an active role in student maintenance concerns in the buildings
  • Instruct residents on how to use the SchoolDude Work Order system
  • Seek support from housing professional staff with any concerns of the CDA
  • Attend all training and meetings
  • Serves as a member of the departmental marketing team
  • A minimum commitment of 12 hours a week up to a maximum of 20 hours a week is preferred
  • Lead on the visual creation for the department’s social media accounts
  • Assist in coordinating various marketing methods
  • Audit department website and recommend edits
  • Review and edit all graphic design related material
  • Follow any verbal and immediate request for changes to materials/projects, etc.
  • Must attend/participate in staff meetings, in one on one meetings with the supervisor and in the evaluation process
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Must maintain a semester and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Ability to utilize appropriate graphic design software to create materials
  • Provide general office support for the day-to-day operation and functionality of Housing & Residential Services
  • Provide front office support by greeting/welcoming and assisting callers and in-person visitors
  • Collect data for tracking purposes for office visitors
  • Update and monitor university housing email account
  • Track the return of temporary access cards
  • Receive, sort and distribute physical mail, data entry, fax and scan, copy documents, receive phone calls and direct to the appropriate resources, manage call lists and make outgoing phone calls, other office duties as needed
  • Support virtual communication platforms
  • Attend training of the operating systems within Housing and Residential Services
  • Ability to identify and explain key features of each residence hall and community
  • Must maintain a cumulative and semester grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Must attend/participate in staff meetings, in one-on-one meetings with the supervisor and in the evaluation process
  • Provide leadership, assistance, and support to the students living in the residence halls
  • Must be enrolled as a matriculating full-time (12+ credits/semester) student
  • Must maintain a semester and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Support, develop, and implement departmental events, programs, and initiatives
  • Develop a working familiarity with the campus and its resources to assist residents 
  • Be available, visible, and approachable to the residents in the hall
  • Learn about the morale of residents in the assigned residence area and identify potential conflicts
  • Provide effective referrals
  • Be sensitive to issues involving confidentiality and security

  • Assist Housing & Residential Services professional staff with administrative duties and tasks
  • Assist professional staff during departmental-wide processes
  • Support minimum situational facility needs of the residence hall
  • Serve in a rotating duty schedule
  • Assist in covering a building’s front desk between one and two shifts per week
  • Understand and articulate university and Housing and Residential Services policies and procedures
  • Write reports as necessary, as trained on and instructed by professional staff
  • Respond and assist with emergency situations
  • Work in cooperation with and at the direction of professional staff
  • Create an atmosphere of quality interaction, sharing accountability, and civic responsibility
  • Return to campus early for all training
  • Be present during RA training with the ability to assist
  • Refer issues and concerns to your supervisor and support the plan(s) as guided by the supervisor
  • Coordinate RA staffs’ duty schedules each semester
  • Support of the desk attendant program by overseeing the Russell Towers front desk
  • Attend one to two on campus educational workshops or professional development opportunities
  • Serve on subcommittees with the Housing & Residential Services pro staff
