Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.
Each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year is required to hold an educational program about the U.S. Constitution for its students on September 17 (if it falls on a weekend; it should be held in the previous or next week).
Each year, at Fitchburg State, the Constitution Day events are planned and organized by the General Education Program. Experts on campus in the Constitution and the law come together and decide on a theme. The planned events focus on that theme as well as how different general education learning outcomes work together.
