Degree Works / Degree Evaluation

The Degree Works program is designed to show where courses you take fit into your academic program. Along with your advisor, this tool can be a great help in making your path to graduation day an easier one to follow.

Degree Works can be accessed by logging directly into Degree Works or through Web4.

Student Degree Works Instructions

  • Login to Web4
  • Click on the "Student" tab
  • Click on "Degree Evaluation"
  • Click on "Degree Works" (gray button)
  1. Go to Web4.
  2. Click on Enter Secure Area.
  3. Enter your User ID and Password, then click LOGIN.
  4. Click on Student.
  5. Click Student Records.
  6. Click Degree Evaluation.
  7. Click Generate New Evaluation (located on bottom of page).
  8. Select your Program (click in the circle) and click Generate Request.
  9. You are now at the Degree Evaluation Display Options screen. You may choose to view the following:
    • General Requirements: Shows what courses you have taken and the areas they are applied to
    • Detail Requirements: Shows what courses you have taken, the areas they are applied to, and the requirements that are still remaining.
    • Additional Information: Shows courses that were not used in the program (e.g., 0.0, W, MATH 0100, etc.)
  1. Go to Web4.
  2. Click on Enter Secure Area.
  3. Enter your User ID and Password, then click LOGIN.
  4. Click on Student.
  5. Click Student Records.
  6. Click Degree Evaluation.
  7. Click What-If Analysis (located on bottom of screen).
  8. Select the term in which you were admitted to Fitchburg State University, click Continue.
  9. Select the Program you wish to use (If 2 are listed, such as Biology, this means that there is a BA and a BS option. The top one listed is the BA, the bottom is the BS).
  10. Select the major (ignore the campus option). Click Add More to add a concentration. If your major has no concentration, such as Computer Science, you can skip this step by clicking Submit.
  11. Select an Evaluation Term (use the current semester). Click Generate Request.
  12. You are now at the Degree Evaluation Display Options screen. You may choose to view the following:
    • General Requirements: Shows what courses you have taken and the areas they are applied to.
    • Detail Requirements: Shows what courses you have taken, the areas they are applied to, and the requirements that are still remaining.
    • Additional Information: Shows courses that were not used in the program (e.g., 0.0, W, MATH 0100, etc.)
  • Click on "What-If" in the left-hand navigation menu
  • If you are considering a new major or minor, select the current year's catalog in the drop-down menu, and choose your desired major or minor. Then click on "Process What-If" at the top of the page.
  • If you would like know how specific courses would affect your degree evaluation, enter the course(s) in the "Future Classes" section. Then click on "Process What-If" at the top of the page.

Advisor Degree Works Instructions

  1. Go to Web4.
  2. Click on Enter Secure Area.
  3. Enter your User ID and Password, then click LOGIN.
  4. Click on Faculty Services.
  5. Click on Advisor Menu.
  6. Click Degree Evaluation.
  7. Select the current term and click Submit Term.
  8. Enter either the advisee's ID# or search by name, then click Submit (If you wish to see a list of all advisees, click Advisees then click Submit. You can then select a student from the list).
  9. Click Submit Name.
  10. Click Generate New Evaluation (located on bottom of page).
  11. Select advisee's Program and click Generate Request.
  12. You are now at the Degree Evaluation Display Options screen. You may choose to view the following:
    • General Requirements: Shows what courses the advisee has taken and the areas they applied to.
    • Detail Requirements: Shows what courses the advisee has taken, the areas they are applied to, and the requirements that are still remaining.
    • Additional Information: Shows courses that were not used in the program (e.g. 0.0, W, MATH 0100, etc.)

  11. Click What-If Analysis (located on bottom of screen).
  12. Select the term in which the advisee was admitted to Fitchburg State University, then click Continue.
