Antivirus Software

Fitchburg State University provides McAfee VirusScan/AntiSpyware Enterprise free of charge to students, faculty and staff*. This software is also installed on all university-owned computers.

Antivirus and antispyware software provides excellent protection from malicious applications that can damage computers and compromise networks. The Help Desk is available to help anyone install and maintain antivirus and antispyware applications and encourages everyone to be safe when accessing the Internet and network environments.

*Note: Faculty and staff are licensed to install the McAfee software on a single home computer that is used for university-related work.

Alternatively, Windows 8 and above users may choose to turn on Windows Defender for antivirus protection.
