Banner Student Records

Banner Student RecordsBanner is a comprehensive and fully integrated enterprise resource planning system. Fitchburg State University uses this Ellucian product to manage information needed to provide customer service and to enable faculty, staff and students to navigate the campus electronic resources.

The Banner system includes three different user interfaces:

Internet Native Banner (INB): The university uses a number of integrated modules offered through Banner INB. The student module is used for student academic records. (i.e. grades, transcript info, student billing and curriculum planning) The finance module is used for financial records. (i.e. accounts payable/receivable, procurement, accounting and budgetary needs) The alumni module is used for constituency management and development. The financial aid module is used to track and report awards/loans, work study as well as all the necessary federal and state aid request forms. Human Resources uses Banner to track new hires and terminations with an electronic workflow.

Self-Service Banner (SSB): The self-service aspect of the Banner system has dramatically improved our ability to provide better customer service. Using the system's Self-Service Banner (formerly known as "Web4") product students can easily register for classes, pay their bill, check grades and chart their course for degree completion. Faculty benefit from this system by the ability to pull class rosters, enter grades in a timelier manner and use the degree audit capabilities for advising. The administration can use this integrated product to assemble data needed for strategic decisions and planning.

Workflow: Banner Workflow is an automation engine which facilitates notifications and other actions among numerous different users and groups, all based on Banner data.
