Upward Bound Math & Science is a year-round, college preparatory program (TRIO) funded by the Department of Education and sponsored by Fitchburg State University since 2017. The program stresses academic development, serving 60 high school students in Fitchburg and Leominster for the duration of their high school career and beyond. Eligibility is based on first generation college status, family income, and academic motivation.

Upward Bound Math & Science's school year program provides academic support for students through tutoring services, educational and college preparatory workshops, and cultural field trips. Program participantes have access to many of the college's resources and facilities.

Each summer, Upward Bound Math & Science students take part in a 6-week residential program. Students live on campus Monday through Friday at Fitchburg State University and take academic courses to better prepare them for college. In addition, students volunteer at community work sites and participated in a variety of recreational and cultural activities.

Admission to the Upward Bound Math & Science Program is on a rolling basis, dependent on openings. For more information, students can contact their school guidance counselor or the Upward Bound Math & Science Program at Fitchburg State University (978-665-3439). The Upward Bound Math & Science staff is happy to meet students and their parent/guardian at school, a community location, or Fitchburg State University.

Fitchburg State University's Upward Bound Math & Science program serves students from Leominster High School, Fitchburg High School and Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School.
