A Welcome from the Dean of Education

Welcome to Fitchburg State University’s School of Education. If you are currently a member of Fitchburg State University’s education community, congratulations on your choice of pursuing an education that will make a difference in the lives of children and young adults. If you are in the process of considering Fitchburg State as your educational home, I want you to know that we are excited about you joining us, and hope you will find our choice of programs exciting. We have an excellent faculty that is ready to join you in your quest to explore and expand your knowledge as an educator.

The educator licensure programs at the University are rooted in a “Classroom Ready” philosophy that will place you in schools with students during your 1st semester and each semester after. The program believes strongly in integrated field experiences that help you observe, practice and teach as part of your program.

Mission of the Education Unit

The Education Unit at Fitchburg State University is committed to preparing knowledgeable, skillful, caring, and ethical educators who are socially responsible personnel (teachers, administrators, counselors), who are prepared for a global society, who recognize the value of diversity, who strive for excellence, who employ innovative technology, and who will serve as reflective leaders in their schools and communities. This mission of the Education Unit supports and complements the overall mission of Fitchburg State University.
