Green Bag Program

The Green Bag Program was created as a way to help the Falcon Bazaar Food and Necessities Pantry become self-sufficient. 250 green canvas bags were purchased with the help of the Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) and dispersed throughout the campus to departments and offices with the hope that while staff members were shopping, they would purchase extra food and necessities.  Once the bags are full, they are dropped off to the Bazaar where an empty green bag is exchanged for the process to begin again. Falcons Swipe It Forward

Want to donate a guest meal to a fellow student who might need it?

The Falcons Swipe It Forward initiative allows you to donate one of your guest meals to this program. Donated meals are pooled into a bank created by the One Card Office and managed by One Card & Chartwells.

  • If you know a student facing food insecurity, nominate them for the Swipe It Forward program by clicking here!
  • Once approved, One Card Office and/or Chartwells moves the meals from the bank to the student’s card.
  • Meals will automatically be set up in blocks of five (5) and can be used at any meal in the dining hall.

While we understand this is not a long term hunger fix, it is intended to be part of a larger picture designed to feed students on a limited basis.

How to donate meals

Any student who wishes to donate one of their guest meals can do so during the first few weeks of each semester during breakfast, lunch, or dinner sessions. There is a separate register set up for swipe donations.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Some students may also be eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (PDF).
