Each year, the library recognizes a student employee who has gone above and beyond to aid our mission of supporting students and faculty in teaching. We choose a student whose professionalism raises the bar for all of their peers. This person treats each user with respect and ensures that they have found the help they were looking for.

We are thrilled to award the 2026 Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Outstanding Student Employee Award to Lily Hay.

Lily is a Communications Media major that has worked at the library since the Fall of 2022.  They have been a stand out employee since the first day, and we have enjoyed every hair color change and picture of their precious pet snake. Their professionalism, positive attitude and customer service focus while working with patrons is exemplary and they will routinely go above and beyond to help. They are a fantastic co-worker to other student employees and will always lend a hand if needed.

Lily consistently demonstrates initiative, self direction and pride in their work that has made them an incredible asset to the library. Lily is the perfect example of a worker who cares about the success of their peers and has served the FSU community well for the past 4 years.

In recognition of Lily’s excellent service, the book Chasing Shadows: My Life Tracking the Great White Shark (print audiobookwas dedicated in their honor to the Library’s collection.

Thank you to Lily for being a superb team member! We wish you all the best in the future.
