has been named the permanent police chief for the City of Revere. LaVita had been serving as Interim Police Chief. She will be the first woman to lead the department in the city's history. LaVita was appointed by a unanimous vote of the Revere City Council and takes the helm after serving more than 30 years on the force, the city said in a statement.
