Carolyn S. Hochard '94

has released her debut novel, The Stars We Could Reach. The book takes the reader on a journey that plumbs the depths of love and loss, and soars to the heights of the heart’s resilience. Hochard insightfully traverses the messy and beautiful terrain of what we keep and what we abandon to create the space for love. She shares her personal journey of self-acceptance and healing as she navigates a society historically equating womanhood with childbearing. She compassionately examines themes of suicide, stillbirth, and terminal cancer with the experience of a seasoned Registered Nurse. Carolyn resides in Massachusetts with her husband, two Tibetan Spaniels and her Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse. She is currently engaged in writing her next novel.
