In Short
The International Politics Concentration is intended for students with a general interest in international politics and government.
- Develop key understandings about legal and constitutional principles, American foreign policy and international public policy, comparative governmental systems, and international political institutions.
- Acquire critical reading, researching, argumentation, and analysis of scholarly/theoretical political trends essential to and sought by all employers.
- Work closely with faculty to conduct in small teams – and in small classes – real world based case studies and role-playing situations to learn to delegate authority between/among students, to prioritize, and to evaluate political circumstances efficiently.

Program Overview
The United States and our global community face serious 21st Century challenges—in everything from climate upheaval, terrorism, poverty, inequality, genocide, violent nationalism, ethnic conflict, to human rights abuses. In our International Politics courses, we explore the origins of these problems and debate their potential solutions. We explore power—and who has it, how they use it, and what the powerless can do to assert their own power. We advance our learning through research, brainstorming, and analysis for how decision-making unfolds and train our students to dissect problems, assess possible solutions, and propose appropriate courses of action. Combining theory and practice, simulations and strategic planning, our students—the future leaders across society—build their careers for government, international law, non-profit agencies, non-governmental or international organizations, and much more.
