Refund and Withdrawal Policy

We understand that circumstances can change, and these guidelines are designed to ensure a smooth and fair process if you need to withdraw from your music lessons. Our goal is to support your musical journey.

This policy outlines the procedure and conditions for withdrawing from music lessons and requesting refunds. All notification must be made in writing to the Community Music Program at cps@fitchburgstate.edu. Notification to the instructor or non-attendance does not constitute formal withdrawal.

  • New students enrolling in lessons are subject to a three-lesson introductory period.
    • Withdrawal with refund: To ensure your request is processed officially and promptly, all formal notifications regarding withdrawal must be sent in writing to the Center for Professional Studies before the third lesson. A refund will be processed for lessons not yet completed. A refund will not be processed for lessons that have already occurred or for the yearly registration fee.
    • Commitment after the three-lesson introductory period: After the completion of the third lesson, the placement becomes a commitment for the remainder of the lesson package, and no refunds will be granted for subsequent withdrawal.
  • Withdrawal outside of the three-lesson introductory period. Withdrawal requests made at any time outside of the introductory period are handled on a case-by-case basis.
    • Procedure: Formal notification must be made in writing to the Community Music Program Coordinator via the cps@fitchburgstate.edu email. The request is subject to review and approval.
    • Refund: A refund may be granted only due to documented special circumstances. Teacher notification or non-attendance are not considered formal notices of withdrawal and will not result in a refund.
  • Withdrawal for returning students. We are happy to welcome you back! Returning students, who enroll in a music lesson package, may withdraw prior to the start of the first lesson and receive a full refund.  Yearly registration process fees are non-refundable.  There are no refunds after the first lesson.

Group classes rely on full enrollment to run successfully and provide a dynamic learning environment.

  • There are no refunds for group lessons.
  • If the Center for Professional Studies cancels a group class due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
