TESEL - Transforming Education and Schools for English Learners

The TESEL Program is a partnership between Fitchburg State University and the Collaborative for Education Services (CES) funded by a grant from the Office of Language Acquisition, U.S. Department of Education. The goal of the TESEL grant is to improve instruction for students with limited English proficiency and upgrade the qualifications of educational personnel working with English Learners to meet high professional standards.

The TESEL program is no longer accepting new applicants for licensure. For more information about ESL licensure, please contact the Collaborative for Educational Services, our ESL course provider.

Goals of the TESEL grant are:

  1. Increase number of ESL licensed teachers.
  2. Provide ESL professional development to STEM teachers.
  3. Provide ESL professional development to school leaders and administrators.
  4. Improve teacher education at Fitchburg State University.
