Get StartedAs a student, you have access to a number of technology resources designed to enhance your academic life. This guide details the most commonly used resources.

Email

Each Fitchburg State student is provided with a Web-based student.fitchburgstate.edu email account 24 hours after their first registration. All students are required to activate their account and check it regularly for messages from their professors and campus offices. Electronic billing for students will be sent to this account. Currently student email is hosted on Google mail.

Blackboard

Blackboard is a Web-based learning management system used for assignments, grades and announcements. The system uses your Falcon Key as a login.

Web4 (Self-Service Banner)

Web4 (Self-Service Banner) is the place for payments, class schedules, financial aid, student information and the course catalog. Get your grades and register for courses here.

Campus Cable

Cable TV is provided to all residence hall students. There is a wide variety of cable channels available, including NESN, MTVU, MTV2, NFL Net, 8 HBO channels, 5 ESPN channels and many more.

Internet Access

All campus buildings as well as some green spaces and parking lots have wireless network access. All resident hall rooms have a data port per student with exception of the North Street Apartments and Cedar Street House.

Help Desk

The 24/7 Call Center offers support to students by phone at (978) 665-4500, toll-free at (866) 830-0518. Students can also submit a ticket by completing the Online Help Desk Request Form. There is walk-in service available in Conlon Hall, Room 236 (Campus Map). View our Hours of Operation page for a schedule of walk-in hours.

Viruses and Security

It is strongly recommended that computers be updated and protected against viruses and malware. The University offers free antivirus software, compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems, for student computers and provides assistance with installation.

Software Discounts

Microsoft software is provided to our students at an exceptional price due to the negotiated Microsoft Campus Agreement. Software may be purchased online.

Adobe also offers discounted software to students through the online store.

J Drive

Each student has their own J drive, which provides online storage space for assignments that can be accessed anywhere on the campus network.

Lab and Mobile Printing

The student lab printing system allows users to print from a mobile device and student computer labs. You will need your OneCard and your Falcon Key to use the service.

Tk20

Tk20 is an online assessment and e-portfolio system used by many of the departments and programs on the Fitchburg State University campus. Tk20 is available to all students at the University.

Fitchburg State Alert

Fitchburg State Alert will enable the University to notify you of important campus announcements. Examples of such announcements are:

  • Campus and regional emergencies
  • Snow closures/delays

Fitchburg State Alert is setup to send notifications to your Fitchburg State University email by default. Mobile phones, land lines, and additional email addresses must be entered by the user.

There are open computer labs on campus for student use. Lab monitors are available in each lab to answer questions.

Student Computer Recommendations

Fitchburg State recommends that all students have a mobile device, either a laptop or an iPad. Visit Student Computer Recommendations for help in deciding what device is right for you.

OneCard

All students and employees receive a OneCard, which is the campus ID card. It provides access to the library, residence halls, computer labs, meal plans, vending machines, and the Recreation Center. The OneCard is used as your identification when purchasing a campus parking permit. It can also be used to shop at local vendors.
