Committee on Student Conduct

Currently accepting student applications for the Fall 2018 semester.
Application materials are located below.

Undergraduates, Graduate students, Faculty, and Staff have a vital role in the creation, review, and adjudication of university policies.  We encourage any interested student, faculty, or staff member to contact Student Conduct (judicial@fitchburgstate.edu) for more information on how to get involved.

The committee will be convened, from the full pool, into a Student Conduct Board, Administrative Board (Administrative Hearing), Sexual Misconduct Board [an administrative board of members specifically trained to hear cases of sexual misconduct] or Appellate Board (Appellate Hearing) as part of the student conduct system.  The Dean of Students, or their designee assigns cases to the committee depending on the overall caseload for the office.  Members of the committee convene in the appropriate board to hear cases, review information, and make determinations as needed.  The committee in board hearings has the same scope of authority as an administrative hearing officer [or appellate officer when applicable], meaning they can sanction someone for anything ranging from a warning to permanent dismissal from the University.

We recruit and train new participants annually or on going as needed.  The selection process typically begins in the late spring or early fall.  Candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and answer a supplemental questionnaire.  Candidates may be asked to participate in a group interview and/or individual interview process.  Subsequently, selected candidates will attend training before being permitted to serve on the board.

Student Conduct Committee Training

Initial and on going training is provided to the committee. We are currently in the process of revising and developing a training syllabus. This training curriculum will incorporate initial training and on-going training of various relevant topics.
