Summer Bridge Residential Students

Dear Student,

We are so excited that you will be joining us at Fitchburg State and for the Summer Bridge program.  Please find some additional information pertaining to housing and meals below.

As you were notified in your initial acceptance letter, the formal academic program starts the morning of Monday, July 8, 2019.  Each week, classes run from Monday thru Thursday. 

Housing will be offered from Sunday evening thru Thursday evening. You may arrive to your residence hall each week on Sunday no earlier than 7pm. You will need to leave the residence hall for the weekend each Thursday no later than 7pm.

Meals are offered Monday Breakfast thru Thursday Lunch.

Check In

Students may check in on Sunday, July 7, 2019 between the times of 3pm and 5pm at Mara 8. (see campus map).

Students who arrive after hours should contact University Police at (978) 665-3111 and ask for the housing staff member on-call to be notified. 

Student should meet housing staff member at the front door of the building.

Housing staff will provide an overview of on-campus living and host Game Night

Dinner will be provided the Sunday night of move-in. 

Students who first arrive Monday morning may check-in with Housing and Residential Services during the lunch break, or other breaks between classes.  As noted in the other letter, the program will start at 8 AM on Monday morning.  Housing & Residential Services is open from 8:00 am to 5 pm Monday thru Friday.

Housing Accommodations


Students will be roomed with another member of the program in Mara 8. 

Students will be assigned to rooms. 

Specific requests for roommates must be mutual and both parties must submit their request  by Friday, June 28th  to Housing and Residential Services at Requests will be accommodated where possible. 

Room change requests must be submitted by Monday, July 15th to

Students should bring linens (twin XL beds) and their own personal items.

Your Housing Support Team

1 Professional Staff (Graduate Assistant) and Two Summer Conference Assistants (student staff members) have been assigned to the area.

The housing team will provide evening educational and social programs throughout your summer experience Summer Bridge is an intensive academic program.  Programs to support your homework and test preparations will be the primary focus. 

Don’t hesitate if you have an idea on a resource or activity you would like to see in the residence hall.

Disability Accommodations:
If you require housing accommodations, you may make your request thru the Office of Disability Services, which may be reached at (978) 665-4020.


Dining will be provided to students at no additional charge.  Dining will be offered Breakfast Monday morning thru Lunch Thursday.  Dining will be provided in the Holmes Dining Commons.

Please let us know of any dietary restrictions, so we can let Dining services know.

If you will have a car on-campus, you will need to obtain a parking pass from Housing & Residential Services.  This may be done on Monday during business hours.


All students must comply with University policies and Housing & Residential Services policies.  Specifically, students should refer to the Code of Conduct, Equal Opportunity Plan, and Housing Policies and Procedures.  These documents are available by visiting

Please note that any student found in violation of University policy may be subject to disciplinary action and subject to removal from the summer bridge program.  Students removed from the program will forfeit their deposit and program fee.
