IDIS 2550: Art and Culture Abroad

3 cr.

This course, offered during January 2020, will allow students to develop an understanding of the forces that shaped French and Spanish cultural histories and how political/economic factors impact artistic creativity.

Price does not include: GCE Winter Course Fees, personal expenses

Saturday, January 4th: Arrive to Paris, Airport Pickup, Health and Safety Orientation, Walking Tour, Welcome Dinner
Sunday, January 5th: Walking Tour of the Latin Quarter focusing on medieval Paris, D'Orsay Museum
Monday, January 6th: Versailles
Tuesday, January 7th: Walking tour of Paris focusing on 17th and 18th Centuries, Arc de Triomphe
Wednesday, January 8th: The Louvre Museum
Thursday, January 9th: Depart for Spain, airport pickup, neighborhood walking tour
Friday, January 10th:  Royal Palace of Madrid
Saturday, January 11th: Day trip to Toledo, visit the Cathedral, Church of Santo Tome (Burial of Count Orgaz), Barrio Judío with Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue
Sunday, January 12th: Prado Museum
Monday, January 13th: Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
Tuesday, January 14th: Return to Boston
