Confidential Services Provided

Available Services:

Fitchburg State Health Services provides free confidential care to all full-time, residential and commuter, undergraduate and graduate students. The student health fee covers the cost of visits other than physical exams and immunizations. All students will be seen regardless of the type of health insurance that they carry. The costs incurred for medications, x-rays, diagnostic work-ups, referrals to specialists are the responsibility of the student. It is important that the student understands their own insurance plan and its possible limitations.

Fitchburg State Health Services offers the students the following services:

  • Care of illness and injury
  • Evaluation, treatment and /or referral as needed
  • Prescriptions and X-Ray orders, as needed
  • Nebulizer treatments for asthma
  • Rapid tests for strep, urine, pregnancy and mono
  • Onsite laboratory - cultures, blood draws processed by Quest Diagnostic Labs
  • Men's health care: exams, painless STI testing
  • Women's health care, such as, breast exams, gynecologic exams, and contraception, pregnancy tests, Plan B, STI testing
  • Free condoms and dental dams
  • Anxiety, depression, panic attacks- we encourage follow-up with Counseling Services
  • Health education and health promotion

When You Need To Be Seen:

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by appointment which can be scheduled by calling 978-665-3643. On Thursdays and Fridays 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. walk in appointments are available and no student workers are staffed during this time. Usually the student can be seen the same day or within 24 hours. If the student has a more acute problem they may be referred to a local Urgent Care or the Emergency Room at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster. If a student does not have transportation to the emergency facility, Health Services will facilitate the process. If a student has an emergency after 5:00 p.m., the student should call Campus Police at 978-665-3111 for assistance.

Medical Problems When Health Services Is Closed:

If immediate assistance is needed on campus call Fitchburg State Campus Police 978-665-3111. Don't call 911.
