Graduate Programs in Teacher Education

Fitchburg State University offers graduate programs in the following areas: Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School Education; Special Education; and Secondary Education. Secondary Education has six different subject areas: Biology, Earth Science, English, History, Mathematics and Technology Education.

The University offers both licensure and non-licensure options in the degree programs leading to the Master of Arts in Teaching degree (MAT), and the Master of Education degree (MED).

Graduate Licensure Programs

Fitchburg State University offers graduate programs leading to initial and professional licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Many students choose to complete a dual stage sequence, earning endorsement for their initial teaching license first, and continuing on for professional licensure and their graduate degree. Some students elect to complete the initial licensure part of their program only.
