Cooking with the Calamari Sisters

Saturday, November 3, 2018 | 8:00 p.m. | Falcon Hub, Hammond Hall

Hilarity, failed dishes, and food fights ensue during this live "broadcast" of a public access cable cooking show hosted by two larger-than-life Italian sisters, Delphine and Carmela Calamari. The sisters sing and dance to such beloved Italian favorites as Volare, Come On A My House, Botcha Me, Que Sera Sera, That's Amore, and ov course - Mambo Italiano! as they try to make it through their final broadcast together in one piece. This comedy theater productions has been delighting audiences everywhere.

Acclaimed Italian Writer - Dacia Maraini

Tuesday, March 5, 2019 | 5:00 p.m. | Falcon Hub, Hammond Hall

The daughter of a Sicilian princess and a Florentine ethnologist, Maraini was interned in a Japanese concentration camp with her family for refusing to recognize Mussolini's Republic of Salo. She went on to become one of the clearest voices for social justice of her generation. During a life of world travel, she has written novels, short stories, plays, several investigative studies, and collections of poetry and essays, and her works have been translated into more than 30 languages and adapted for award-winning films.

Delight your palate with the authentic tastes of Piemonte's food and wine as our friend Fred Plotkin returns to Fitchburg, Fred will enlighten us about the history, culture and, perhaps most importantly, cuisine of this land of the mountains. An authentic menu of specialty dishes will set the stage for this verbal tour of the region.

Skylark Ensemble presents Masterpiece

Thursday, April 4, 2019 | 7:00 p.m. | Kent Recital Hall

Over the centuries, art has inspired music, and music has inspired art. In this innovative multi-faceted program, we will offer musical reflections and reactions to the visual arts from the ancient to the modern. Skylark is excited to premiere a commissioned work by Neil Shaw Cohen, a New York City-based composter with a partivular interest in the intersection of visual art and music.
