Student Employment

Student Security Officers will:

  • Report to the University Police Operations Sergeant
  • Check buildings to ensure they are secure
  • Check campus lighting
  • Check/test emergency call boxes
  • Provide safety escorts for students, faculty and staff
  • Patrol the campus via foot including times of inclement whether
  • Report suspicious and or criminal activity to the University Police Dept.
  • Report safety issues to the University Police Dept.
  • Complete logs and reports as necessary
  • Assist the University Police with prisoner watch
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Due to the sensitive nature of these positions candidate will be required to undergo a background investigation. Additionally, Student Security Officers are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Due to the importance of the position, Student Security Team members are expected to make this their primary form of employment.

Candidates are required to have/meet the following:

  • Candidates are required to possess a valid Class D motor vehicle license
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidates must present themselves in a professional manner
  • Basic knowledge of how to use a computer
  • Must have a flexible availability for scheduling

Preference will be given to students enrolled in the Police Certification Concentration and then those majoring in Criminal Justice.
