Posted 10/20/16

Fitchburg State University will join more than 30 other institutions offering free help on the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) for college-bound students on FAFSA Day Massachusetts at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. Fitchburg State’s financial aid professionals will offer assistance at the Antonucci Science Complex, 333 North St.

Every high school senior, college student, and adult-student who will be attending college during the 2017-2018 academic year needs to complete the FAFSA in order to apply for federal, state and institutional financial aid. FAFSA Day Massachusetts, a College Goal Sunday program, provides free help statewide to students and families looking to complete the FAFSA.

FAFSA Day Massachusetts is being held Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. at over 30 locations, with additional locations available on different dates and times. Families are encouraged to visit the MASFAA website to register, and to view locations, dates and times. The services are free and available to anyone entering college in 2017; low-income, first-generation students are especially encouraged to attend. Many locations will have services available in various languages.

Guests are encouraged to bring the following to FAFSA Day:

  • FSA ID (please sign up and bring both your Student FSA ID and Parent FSA ID*, available at fsaid.ed.gov)
  • Social Security Number
  • Driver’s License number
  • 2015 federal tax return
  • 2015 W-2 or year-end pay stub
  • 2015 untaxed income records
  • 2015 business and investment records
  • Bank statement(s)
  • Alien Registration Card (if not a U.S. Citizen)

FAFSA Day is staffed by volunteer financial aid and higher education experts available to provide families one-on-one assistance. FAFSA Day is a non-profit program sponsored by Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, MEFA, American Student Assistance, and Office of Student Financial Assistance/Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (OSFA). Over 14,000 students have been served during FAFSA Day events.
