About This Event
In the pre-Civil War era, the Book of Exodus was a source of hope, inspiration, and especially unity to Black people throughout America. In this talk, Professor Michael Hoberman (English Studies) will explore how the Exodus story helped to inform developing notions of Black peoplehood within the wider context of enslavement, oppression, and emancipation.
