Music Minor

The minor in Music provides students with the opportunity to actively engage in music through instrumental or choral work and to study the history of music at different times across many cultures.

A minimum of 18 credits required; including three core courses (9 credits). Passing the piano proficiency evaluation or MUSC 2500 Class Piano is required to enter the minor.

Students must take the following:

MUSC 1000 Art of Music 3 cr.
MUSC 1500 World Music
MUSC 2200 Basic Music Theory 3 cr.
MUSC 2240 Harmony I
MUSC 2300 Choral Arts 3 cr.
MUSC 2400 Instrumental Arts

9 credits - The remaining courses may be taken from music electives in consultation with a Music Minor advisor.
