Safety and Crime Prevention

We place a high priority on the safety and security of those who attend, work and/or visit the campus. Although the University Police proactively patrols, the safety and security of the campus is the responsibility of all those who are part of the Fitchburg State University Community.

The University has placed call boxes around campus for your convenience as well as inside of the academic buildings and elevators. Cameras which are monitored from the University Police’s Communication Center are also conveniently located around campus in parking lots and in buildings.

We ask that if you see something suspicious you contact us at 3111 on campus and 978.665.3111 off campus. All 911 calls dialed from a cell phone will connect you to the Massachusetts State Police and then be transferred to the Fitchburg State University Communication Center. All 911 calls dialed from a land line will connect you to the City of Fitchburg Police, then will be transferred to the Fitchburg State University Communication Center. For this reason we ask that you dial us directly to expedite our response.

We offer a wide array of safety programs and initiatives to assist and educate the University community. The most common areas we are asked about can be found through the links below.
