International Applicants
Fitchburg State University seeks students who represent a broad variety of backgrounds, talents and interests and welcomes the perspectives and experiences each student brings to the university community. The Office of International Education assists international students studying at Fitchburg State with immigration concerns and cultural adjustments and sponsors programs and activities that promote cross-cultural exchange on campus.

Application Deadlines
Fall Semester
- March 15 for undergraduates seeking on-campus housing
- July 15th - for undergraduates and graduates
Spring Semester
- December 1st
It is necessary to adhere to the application deadlines. We recommend that you get an early start on the application process to ensure that if you are offered admission, you have sufficient time to either secure a visa appointment or transfer from another institution.
Application
International students must complete the appropriate admissions application (either undergraduate or graduate) plus the International Application Supplement. A complete checklist of documents needed to complete your application can be found in the International Application Supplement. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the documents listed in the supplement.
Transcripts & Evaluations
All foreign transcripts must be formally evaluated before we are able to make an admissions decision. Undergraduate applicants are required to submit a “course by course” evaluation and graduate applicants are required to submit a “general” evaluation. Following are suggested organizations which provide foreign credential evaluation services:

Standardized Tests
The TOEFL is required of all international applicants with the exception of those who have earned a high school, associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree from an institution in the United States OR applicants from Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, or Canada. The minimum passing test score is 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (Internet based test).We do not currently accept IELTS scores.
Undergraduate applicants that have completed secondary school within the last three years are required to submit official results of the SAT or ACT exams.
Graduate applicants are required to take either the GRE or GMAT depending on their intended program of study.
All exams must be completed before an admissions decision can be made.

Tuition & Fees
For the 2011-2012 academic year, costs for undergraduate students are estimated to be $23,880 and for graduate students $14,986. These costs include tuition, fees, living expenses, health insurance, and books. Additionally, these minimum costs must be noted on the official bank letter that F-1 visa applicants must submit. Housing
All full-time undergraduate day students may apply for on-campus housing. At this time, on-campus housing is not available for graduate students.
