Construction Technology Concentration

OVERVIEW

Construction Technology

The Construction Technology concentration provides students with the information essential to find rewarding and challenging careers in the construction industry. Field and hands-on laboratory applications include the coordination of workers, material, subcontractors and regulatory agencies. Topics related to the design, specification and construction processes are covered. The processes of estimating and managing construction projects are also studied through a planned sequence of courses.  Students can participate in an internship after their sophomore year to gain real-world experience while applying the knowledge gained in the classroom.

In addition to courses in their concentration, all Industrial Technology students receive a well-rounded technical core of classes in electrical systems, metal fabrication, technical drawing, technical analysis, computers in industrial technology, chemistry, physics and the evolution of industrial technology.

The Construction Technology concentration provides students with information essential for managerial personnel in the construction industry. Students are exposed to a planned sequence of courses preparing them to function in a project
management capacity, including the coordination of workers, materials, subcontractors, and local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
