The administrative records of Fitchburg State University throughout it's history are contained in the University Records Collection. The Collection contains publications, reports, correspondence, minutes, budgets, yearbooks, course catalogs, policy and procedural manuals, planning documents, maps and architectural plans, photographs and realia and various other records. The Collection is organized according to the organizational structure of the University and is focused on records that fulfill the Massachusetts Records Retention Schedule and other historical items of evidentiary value.
Additionally, the Archives & Special Collections maintains a growing number of archival manuscript collections in addition to the University Records Collection. These collections represent our mission to collect unique materials representing the institution's history, faculty and alumni, scholarship supporting our academic departments, and materials related to local and regional history.
faculty publications
Fitchburg State University has 14 academic departments featuring more than 30 undergraduate programs and 22 graduate programs with 177 faculty. The Archives seeks to document faculty research interests and publications. If you would like to include a publication in our index, please email the Reference & Special Collections Librarian.
ACC & Graduate Council Proposals
Two sub-series in the University Records Collection often requested are the All College Committee Proposals (ACC) and the Graduate Council Proposals. The governance procedures for ACC began in 1979. The historic record of decisions proposed and made by these committees are housed in the University Archives, 1979-2008. Since 2008, the ACC has maintained a digital collection of proposals and minutes.
The University Archives indexes the ACC Proposals. The University Archives houses the original proposals (1979-2008), and includes the committees' actions and the President's decisions.
The University Archives also houses the Graduate Council proposals (no student petitions) and includes the committees' actions and the President's decisions (1993 to the present).
