History (MA)

Special Announcement

We are now accepting applications for the Master of Arts in History. The program may be completed 100% online, but also offers on-campus summer institutes as a value-added option. The summer institutes will provide accelerated hybrid courses in special topics of interest to teachers of history and social sciences.

Although the official relaunch of the program is scheduled for spring 2018, students may start with institute courses this summer, and an online course in the fall. All required courses will be available online, allowing students to complete the program without coming to campus.

The program may be completed 100% online for those students who prefer the convenience and flexibility online courses offer.

Requirements and Curriculum

MA History

The Master of Arts in History program at Fitchburg State was a great fit for my educational needs. One of the elements that stood out for me was the well thought out integration of technology in the pedagogical process. I was not interested in taking an online Master's program, but I realized that to develop as a professional and student I had to continue to learn new technology. All the courses that I took incorporated technology into the curriculum but at the same time the personal and direct support of the faculty was always apparent. It was an excellent blend of traditional teaching intertwined with cutting edge instructional method.
