Tools and Strategies for Paraprofessionals in Inclusive Settings

This FREE institute is targeted to paraprofessionals who work with students at all school levels in inclusive classrooms.  

Upon completion of the institute, participants will be able to:

  • Appreciate the developmental levels, social, emotional and academic needs of individuals with disabilities at all school levels
  • Provide definitions and characteristics of various disabilities
  • Implement age-appropriate accommodations and modifications for students at all school levels
  • Implement strategies and approaches to facilitate self management, enhance social skills and increase independence 
  • Examine and apply evidence-based best practices for designing effective classroom supports
  • Work collaboratively with various staff including general and special education teachers, other paraprofessionals, and related service professionals

This institute is FREE for PDP registrants.  The course is funded by a grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

Each participant will receive 67.5 PDP's upon completion of the institute. Participants may elect to register for three Fitchburg State University graduate credits for $275 or three undergraduate credits for $220. Participants must attend each session and participate in the five hour online portion.
