Fitchburg State University is pleased to offer the 28th Annual Fine Arts Director Summer Institute, designed to prepare individuals to be capable, ethical and informed leaders of an integrated arts program. Participants may take summer institute courses for Professional Development Points (PDPs), graduate credit, or as part of Fitchburg State's Fine Arts Director Certificate Program. . |
The Fine Arts Director Certificate Program (FADCP)
Many school systems combine various arts departments under one director from a single arts discipline (music, art, drama or dance). The Fine Arts Director Certificate Program is designed for individuals responsible for the supervision of fine arts programs or teachers moving into such areas of responsibility. The certificate program is offered as part of the summer session and consists of four three-credit graduate courses.
Courses may be applied toward attainment of the master's of education degree in Arts Education, Educational Leadership and Management, the Non-licensure Master of Elementary or Secondary Education, or the CAGS programs in Educational Leadership and Management or Interdisciplinary Studies with advisor's approval. Credits earned through Fine Arts Director Certificate Program may be applied to state licensure but do not in themselves fulfill all requirements for state licensure. Applicants seeking admission to graduate degree candidacy are cautioned that a maximum of twelve semester hours may be accepted in a transfer from non-matriculated status.
Individuals must apply for admission to the certificate program through the university's Office of Admissions. While acceptance to the Fine Arts Director Certificate Program is not required to register for classes, individuals must apply and be accepted before the completion of the certificate program.
In addition to having a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution, applicants for the Fine Arts Director Certificate Program must also meet appropriate academic department criteria to be eligible for admissions consideration.
Application materials must be submitted to the Office of Admissions, Fitchburg State Univeristy, 160 Pearl street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
